Bypassing Microsoft's DRM Software
by anth0r
Alright, so you don't feel like paying a whole dollar for the ability to burn your downloaded music when using Napster eh? Well, as you know, Napster Premium service subscribers have the ability to download the songs they want and pay $1 per track if they decide to burn them. The songs you download are on your hard drive, this makes it easy to figure out ways to get passed the annoying DRM employed on the wma files by Microsoft.
To my knowledge, no one has cracked the latest DRM (v7), you'll have to do it manually. When I say this I mean you'll have to download some software and actually be present at your computer when you're doing this.
First off you'll need to download a copy of Advanced MP3/WMA Recorder at
http://www.mp3recorder.us/mp3-wma-recorder.exe
This program IS shareware, but the registration code is available here
http://www.crackz.ws/?i=68462
Yeah, I know there's some annoying popup's but just cancel them and scroll down to the bottom where it says download. That's the crack that'll allow you to enter a name of your choice and it will generate a registration code to unlock Advanced MP3/WMA Recorder.
Once you've got the program setup, you'll want to open it and go to the file menu to setup where you would like the recorded track to be placed.
Example
Now click the RECORD CONTROL button, a menu will drop down and check the box that says stereo mix. Move the little bar next to that box like it is in this picture, if not, your recorded track will sound distorted.
Example
Now go to the directory where all your downloaded wma's from napster are stored. If you don't know where this is, you can run Napster and go to File>Options as shown below
Example
Run Windows Media Player so that you can play one of those wma files of your choice for recording. Now just press the record button on Advanced Mp3/WMA Recorder and quickly press play on windows media player. The audio you hear from the media player will be exactly the same when it's done recording. Once the song is done playing, press the stop button on the recorder and you've got yourself a copy of the wma file, but unprotected in .wav format! You can record it in mp3 format, but wav will be better as far as quality goes.
Example
This method does work and produces an exact copy of the original wma file in sound quality.
Enjoy
