News From The Camp

93! I think a nice way to start off our third issue would be
to say thanks to all of those wonderful people who are involved
with the Camp and the newsletter, and also to those who've had
nothing but praise for it! I'm extremely happy at the way things
are going here. The newsletter is up to its usual mutated growth,
and we've distributed it to some local stores for sale at a minimal
price. I managed to put the electronic versions of the newsletter
together and had them uploaded to some of the 93 Net Bulletin
Boards. Again, (as I'm sure I'll be saying ad infinitum) please
submit!
With this issue we've switched publishing programs and have
acquired a scanner to help increase the potential of the
newsletter. We also have an airbrush in our graphics department
now, so you can look forward to some interesting covers in the
future (maybe next issue?!?).
I think congratulations are in store for Frater Tam who
courageously took the first step in the grade system of the O.T.O.
by persevering through the Minerval initiation. You could probably
clap a few hands for myself for having taken my First Degree too.
Both were done at Tahuti Lodge in New York, and they put on a
wonderful production as usual! We now have members of the Camp
holding Minerval, First, and Second degrees - it's a step!
Our meetings are getting better and better each month. We had
a nice turnout at our June meeting where we began discussions on
Crowley's Magick In Theory And Practice. We barely put a dent in
the first chapter, but if you consider the fact that we were able
to get about three hours of heavy discussion out of it, I think it
can be said that all went well.
For the month of July we will be holding two events. The first
event is a ritual which will be done at an open circle at our
disposal in Chalfont on the 11th. After the ritual will be a large
feast and celebration at the open fire pit which is next to it, so
it should prove to be a blast! The next event will be our regular
monthly meeting and discussion group at the Anarchist's Coffee
House on the 12th (see the back of this issue for the address). We
will begin a series of workshops dealing with basic Magickal
techniques and concepts at this meeting. All are welcome and
encouraged to show up for these events - the more the merrier!
We've been discussing the performance of the Rites of Eleusis
as a long term project. It will be quite a spectacle if we pull it
off, but considering how good things are going now I don't think
we'll have any problem which we can't overcome. I'll keep you up to
date on any information regarding this as it comes along, so keep
your eyes and ears open!

On The Cover

This issue's cover was done by Frater O.A. and features the
Greek Cross of the Zodiac. It contains all twelve signs of the
Zodiac and their spiritual center in the middle. Remember, we are
open to any color cover submissions you might have.

The Campmaster Speaks!

I have just received news concerning the reprinting of The
Equinox. This is a must for die hard Thelemites, and costs for this
edition are low. Samuel Weiser has sent me a notice confirming a
late September release, priced at $395.00. It consists of the ten
volume set, complete with a cloth binding. This set will include
the "original color art" and is unabridged. 750 copies will be
available, and a set can be reserved with a $100.00 lay-away. For
more info, write or contact Samuel Weiser. I myself do not have a
set, and having priced earlier editions, believe this to be a
bargain. I am sure more news will be available through The Magickal
Link in the future. There have even been whispers of a discount for
O.T.O. members, though this is not definite. Usually priced
anywhere between $700.00 and $2000.00, this is a Thelemites wet
dream. So if funds are low, indeed, invoke Jupiter or any other
force for the money. Which segways into my main rant for this issue
of Force And Fire.
I have often been asked about my opinion concerning the matter
of the lesser magics (those done for material gains), and those of
Higher Magicks (spiritual and True Will Magicks). This is a
provocative subject. Since I am a firm believer in Chaos, and have
no qualms about disturbing some, I will try to explain this in a
way so as not to ruffle everyones feathers.
My feelings have been that practicing the lesser magics are
not bad for the Karma, nor are they bad for ones True Will. That
is, if they are performed with the Great Work in mind. In my
experience, I have come to believe that the lesser magics consist
of money magic, love spells, and curses or hexes to name a few.
Like many other Thelemites, my interest in Thelema came about after
an interest in such practices as candle magic, color magic, and
other forms of sympathetic magic. So my psyche has been able to
incorporate and explain these thought provoking ideas in a way, so
I can stroke my ego, and not feel like I committed a high sin in
what is termed Higher Magick. Higher Magick consists of ceremonies
where knowledge, enlightenment, and advancement of the Will are
concerned. The two are quite different, and some would say,
negative to each other. I say hogwash!
Higher Magicks are often achieved through exotic means. The
ceremonies consist of gallant pageantry, although one need not go
to extravagant ends to achieve Knowledge and Conversation of the
Holy Guardian Angel. On the other hand, props play important roles,
and these can include everything from candles to statues, or
magnificent robes to rare books (one cannot forget the wine).
Everyone knows these can cost money (there goes that bad word
again), and ones tastes can run high in price. So I have found that
one can perform ceremonies, invoke deities and such, which grant
monetary gifts and release hidden treasures. Keep in mind, when
doing so, use the gained treasures (or other results) to increase
magickal supplies. All should be done to enhance the Great Work.
In the past, I have done work in this vein, putting special
emphasis to use any monies gained in this manner strictly for
Magickal purposes. Again, this may vary from one person to another.
For me, this included buying implements for ritual, subscribing to
magickal zines, or buying rare and forbidden tomes. Occasionally I
spent too much on wine, and wound up using the excess for
recreational use. I never was one to waste such gifts from the Gods
and Goddesses. Making up a poem or invocation which relays why you
want the cash (these gods and goddesses have inquiring minds),
serves well. Besides, it also relaxes your own conscience, which
otherwise nervous, may bring on the wrath of the deity invoked. One
such invocation, although a short one, is one I made up for Jupiter
(a wealthy God) seeking, ultimately, magickal knowledge.

Riches come forth
For me to enjoy
Books of wisdom
Which I will employ
For future knowledge
For the Great Work
The Magickal College
Where Arcanum Lurk!

I have had some good results with this, probably because I
made it up myself at the time of the ritual, thus it came from the
heart and possibly, my collective unconscious.
When it comes to love spells, and hexes, one should take a
little more caution. Even Uncle Al used such techniques in quest of
his Higher Self. I advise using love chants and spells for
enhancing relationships which one is currently in. To cast a spell
of love upon someone who has no feeling for you goes against the
Law of Thelema, and therefore, is a no-no.
Curses should be used only when one crosses your path with an
intent to do you harm. We all have our pathways, and those that
choose to interfere with your pathway are only asking for it. This
sounds cruel and "Anti-Christian" in nature, but heed the words of
Aiwass:

"Now let it be first understood that I am a god of War and
Vengeance. I shall deal hardly with them." - AL: III,3.

and...

"Curse them! Curse them! Curse them!" - AL: III,50.
"With my Hawk's head I peck at the eyes of Jesus as he hangs
upon the cross." - AL: III,51.

If someone crosses you, and you warn them, they better take
heed. For it is up to you to defend yourself. 'Tis a cruel world,
and as our friend Darwin instructed us, only the strong survive.
Thus, lesser magics become something more than a cheap trick
or that which is below us. In other words, lesser magic (Lesser
Magicks?) are a means of developing ones Higher Magick potential,
and therefore these techniques are alright to use. One must always
keep in mind that a balance is always in use. This is a term and an
idea which I picked up from The Satanic Bible, which states that
everyone has their limits. One need not invoke a deity for millions
because the chances are very slim (otherwise I'd own Boleskine
House by now). This idea of a balance will help the individual to
set proper goals. Ones goals and reasons may vary, but remember the
reasons well, as to why you are taking action.

Let me survive,
outlive the syllables that sound my name,
being alive down corridors of steel,
avoiding death, the brief, post mortem fame,
the empty wreath closed with iron seal,
the secret locked, the word unsaid,
body at rest among unfriendly dead.

Being alive, and through disquiet, smiling,
let me survive, naked in light, this room my cell;
learn bitterly to know myself too well,
till the self flowering tree
that bears man's destiny,
hangs withered fruit across the garden wall.

See the world break in me
flood, war and hurricane
enter the narrow rivers of the brain,
break and subside in darkness flowing,
with the warm blood-tide,
until I wake, ageless, the limbs walk free,
open my heart to meet my love again.

Under the stone I saw them flow,
express Times Square at five o'clock
eyes set in darkness, trampling down
all under, limbs and bodies driven
in crowds, crowds over crowds, the street
exit in starlight and dark air
to empty rooms, to empty arms,
wall paper gardens flowering there,
error and loss upon the walls.

I saw each man who rode alone
prepare for sleep in deeper sleep
and there to ride, sightless, unknown,
to darkness that no day recalls

Riderless home, shoulder to head,
feet on concrete and steel to ride
Times Square at morning and repeat
tomorrow's five o'clock in crowds
(red light and green for speed) descend;
break entrance home to love or hate
(I read the answer at the door)
the destination marked "Return,
no stop till here; this is the end."

In the Egyptian Religion, the 'goal' or 'end' (Eternity, if
you will) was signified by the Goddess "Nuit", which numerates to
0 and signifies "Nothingness".

In the Hebrew Religion, a similar parallel can be found, when
the Qabbalists talk of "Ain", "Ain Soph" and "Ain Soph Aur".

Both the Egyptians and the Hebrews believed that all life
sprung from this nothiness... There was a 'spark' of life - This
'nothingness' wanted the ability to learn about itself, and created
a life form that thereby she may be known.

This might sound to some as hookey, but as they say, the truth
is stranger than fiction... Even a Modern Quantum Physicist would
concur with these Ancient Doctrines, and point out that from
Infinity and Universal Chaos, comes Order and Life. These theories
have been demonstrated to the educated, by mere formula, and to the
general population, by 'fractals'.

Now the goal of the Magickal Work, and perhaps the future goal
of our Sciences, is to attain back to that state of nothingness -
To dissolve into the Body of Nuit - To reach this infinity; where
naught has form, but all is possible...

A Rhyme Of Comfort

If thou shouldst wander
Throughout the world,
In hopes that love
Should be unfurled,
Then keep in mind
Throughout it all,
To love one's Self
Is to be loved by All.

The Herbal Corner

Welcome folks to another month of herbal remedies for
Thelemites out there and other mundane folk. This month's article
will be more of a collection of remedies I have discovered and some
discussion of types of herbs and their effects on the human body.
One small note before I go on, I have received some requests from
people who are having problems locating propolis, which was
mentioned in last months article. The best place to find it is your
local General Nutrition Centers, which are usually located in
shopping malls. It comes in tablets, this is fine for the purposes
I mention in last months article; though its not chewy, it is
easier to eat. When I locate an easy source for raw propolis, I
will let you know.
Response to these articles has been great, this newsletter is
being distributed to local pagan stores, where the response has
been excellent. Keep those comments and questions coming, I answer
them as fast as I can.
I want to discuss something that many people are unaware of
when they take medicines given to them by doctors. In the world
today there are two views of plants. One is the view that
herbalists employ, which is built on many ages worth of people's
experiences, by testing out and finding out the effectiveness of
these plants. This means that herbalism doesn't try to explain how
the plant works, but simply describes the action it causes on the
human system. Some of these actions are: anti-inflammatory,
diuretic, astringent, bitter, carminative, expectorant, adaptogenic
and tonic. The way herbs speak to us is a language of using simple
tools and concepts to enhance one's own lifestyle and health for
the better. Many times all the body needs is plain and simple rest,
which allows it to heal itself. In fact about 89% of the time the
body can heal itself given enough rest, good clean water and a lack
of outside help. It is not often that the body needs the massive
amount of help that modern medicine can offer. Whenever the body
needs that type of assistance, the science and technology of modern
medicine does the job quite well. But besides that, there is an
alternative. In the herbal community there exists a large
widespread population of many people who offer a large number of
approaches to healing with herbs such as: herbal, homeopathic,
shamanic, allopathic, naturopathic, massage, counseling,
chiropractic, meditation and laying on of hands. All of these work
to help transform people's lives into much richer and fulfilling
ways of living.
The other branch of herb science is Pharmacology, which is a
branch of science which studies drugs, their uses, effects and
makeup. This science believes in the idea that if you break apart
a plants isolated parts you can use those individual parts and only
use the one that specifically cures something, instead of using the
whole plant as a unit. Here is a good example of how the two
sciences differ. I'm going to use a very reliable and useful herb,
the Horse chestnut. As a note this plants use was outlawed by the
government of Canada.
The nut of the Horse chestnut has been used for many centuries
as an agent to help relieve inflammation of the circulatory system
and to help strengthen the blood vessels of the circulatory system.
Is used most often as the main ingredient for recipes to give to
persons who are experiencing hemorrhoids and sluggish circulation.
It is well know that you cannot eat the outer casing of the nut
(its green in color, the nut is inside this casing.) The outer
casing is considered poisonous, but the inside nut has been
successfully used for centuries as a circulatory strengthener. The
nut of this tree has been most often prepared as an infusion in a
tea like drink or as a tincture for use as an internal agent. It
can also be made as an external agent by combining it and Comfrey
and distilling it with Witch Hazel as a lotion to rub all over the
body. As a note the bark can be used for its tonic and fever
reducing actions.
In contrast with this use of the Horse chestnut,
pharmacologists look at it with the eyes of reducing it to its base
components, to use only those parts that specifically help the
circulatory system. They believe that action of the Horse chestnut
is simply due to the tannin, flavone and saponin content in it.
Those items are believed by pharmacologists to be its active
ingredients; the only ones of any importance. They consider the
other ingredients to be useless with no value to medicine. They
improve on these base ingredients by using complex molecular
blueprints. They synthesize these active ingredients so they can be
given in a more precise manner in order to eliminate side effects.
Some pharmacologists warn that the saponin can cause hemolysis
(this means it reduces the bloods surface tension and causes cells
to burst). But herbalists have found that the saponin in the Horse
chestnut is very weak and is shown to be very safe when taken
orally. In real life, saponin is only dangerous when injected into
the blood stream as with a needle. But the human digestive system
is quite capable to digest the saponin are render it into
ingredients the body uses to repair itself. As a note, other herbs
that are commonly used that contain saponin are Licorice,
Sarsaparilla, and Ginseng. Certain plants that have Vitamin A could
be consider dangerous if we ate the Vitamin in its raw form but
when its integrated with the plant it's a necessary part of the
human system. Herbalists believe that a plant in its organized
complete form is the most useful form for it is most effective and
safe. Those agents which are inert in these plants help buffer it
when being digested and are just as important as the rest of the
plant. When a plant is separated and disturbed from its original
state we often get into deep trouble. Well next month I will
discuss saponin in great detail, but for know lets give you some
recipes to try for yourself.
This first one is to help you have a store of energy for the
days events. It's formulated to nourish and tone the human system.
Combine the follow powders together:

2 Tablespoons Siberian Ginseng powder
2 Tablespoons Ginseng Powder
1 Tablespoon Ginger powder
4 Tablespoons Bee Pollen
6 Tablespoons Pumpkin Seeds (ground)
1 Tablespoon Sesame seeds (ground)

Combine in another bowl:

3/4 cup of sesame seed butter, almond butter, or peanut butter
1/4 cup of honey

Gradually add the first mixture to the second and knead into
a paste. Add roasted carob powder and, if you wish, some shredded
coconut for flavor. Roll into balls and eat 1 before and 1 after
your daily exercises.

Well folks that's it for this month, keep those letters
coming! Love to hear more recipes and suggestions. Till next month,
93!

The Door

The fear overwhelms me as I stand here before
The jaws of eternity and that infamous door
Whom many have strode through with light in their eyes
And courage in their hearts in a bold reprise.

But I hesitate and falter, my limbs gone dead,
Overshadowed with fear; a storm in my head
Begins to stir and whirl and scream,
Bringing forth nightmares of my darkest dream.

Then suddenly a light, from within or without,
I know not which, but am sure beyond doubt
Of its divine origin, a kiss from the highest,
Giving me courage of the strong and ablest.

I make my way through the portal before me.
Aglow in splendor, enriched in ecstasy,
I pass through the door and into the room,
But now see light where I thought i saw gloom.

And in a wave of rapture I'm caught up in bliss,
With secrets unfurled in a heavenly kiss.
My mind is clear and my soul even more,
All this because I stepped through the door.

Pursuit:
The enemy who stands alone,
body against the wall,
wheels, shot; a million bullets through the floor,
And yet revenge not done;
Lynch nigger, run:
The bastard has escaped
through death, trap door, the exit,
right, open, down, and down,
yield body up,
naked in fiery chains upon the tree:
no longer here betray
a separate identity,
black bone in ashes
here at last confesses
that martyrdom from which
no man is free.

Eye Of Light!

Thou eye of secret wisdom,
Thou eye of pure delight,
Descend upon this kingdom
And shed forth thy splendid light!

Remove all of the darkness
From this world that wants to see
The love behind the harshness,
And a new reality!

Pierce right through the cloud
That lingers in the sky!
Remove that ugly shroud
That threatens all to die!

Shed forth thy love to all
Who yearn for a brighter day,
And let the curtains fall,
Unveiling a brighter way!

Integrating Thelema

Various religions in the world today tend to preach fear and
terror to keep their following. This is morally incorrect and
supposedly against the main objective of these religions. To all
those people who think for themselves this teaching is absurd and
hypocritical! One thing common to all religions, though, is the law
of Karma. Every organized religion and most of the old religions
such as Wicca, have the "golden rule" of what you do comes back to
you. Satanism is the exception. As magickians and leaders of the
Age, those involved in Thelema are to be responsible for their
actions.
Every religion, whether the leaders know it or not, can be
integrated into the philosophy of Thelema. Thelema teaches Free
Will and responsibility to all. This can integrate the older
religions and could attract these people to the philosophy of
Thelema. The ritual parts of the Catholic mass actually resemble
some of the concepts of ritual working. For instance, the "Holy
Communion" is just a dramatic recreation of the Last Supper. The
priest is invoking Jesus Christ. If the people only know that the
priests were performing Magick they would not go to Church!
The eastern religions all contain some aspect of the Thelemic
tradition. They can also be integrated into the Crowleyan way. Take
for instance the mythos of the east, with Shiva and Vishnu. This
system has correspondences in the Crowleyan System. Actually in the
book 777, Crowley took the other religious systems of the world and
corresponded them to the Tree of Life. This in itself proves that
the other religious systems are integrable into our system.
There is one major difference. The other systems teach
subservience to a man who is the leader of the system. There are
also many man made laws to every system. Thelema has only one
LAW... Do what thou wilt!... Every man and woman has the
opportunity to attain to divinity. Islam doesn't give this
opportunity.
These other systems all are corrupted versions of Thelema.
They are from the Aeon of Osiris. With the duality conflict, Man
versus Woman and that sort of thing. Too many man made restrictions
apply to these organizations and the leaders are so fearful of
losing their following that they have to teach fear of their GOD.
This is foolish since this is just teaching fear of self!... and
fear of self results in slavery. Slavery is not what religion is
all about...freedom is!

SO: Do What Thou Wilt!

Eternal Yearning
To kiss the Eternal Source
And drink the Lustral Water;
To grasp that Awesome Force
And fill my Soul with wonder.

To drink the Milk and Honey
Of the Virgin of the Earth;
To leap in utter ecstasy,
Let go, and then sail forth.

To break the subtle boundaries
That lie within my mind;
To travel eternal pathways
And leave the Earth behind.

To unite all things in Love,
So we can then begin
To grasp all that's Above,
Which really lies Within.

To leap from peak to peak
And soar above the cloud;
To start the path to seek
And rend the Holy Shroud.

To view the Golden Dawn,
And see the Dawn of Light;
To gaze and look upon
That Holy, Sacred Sight.

To live in perfect harmony
Between the Double Pillars
Of Mercy and Severity;
To live amongst the Stars.

To do all of these things
And quench my eternal thirst
Of which my Spirit sings:
To be One with the First!

Basic Magickal Concepts

Magick, as defined by Aleister Crowley, is "the science and
art of causing change to occur in conformity with will." But how
are these changes to be brought about? Well, the most obvious way
is to use a more material route and simply put the available
systems to work. An infamous example deals with writing a letter.
It is this persons will to write the letter, so they put all of
their forces into getting it done. They use the proper medium (pen
and paper, or in these times, computer and keyboard) and produce
the letter as they like. If the letter is to be sent to a friend,
you don't just throw it in the mailbox and let it float about
aimlessly, but you direct the force (the letter) to its appropriate
destination (by putting the correct address on it). If everything
was done correctly, the desired outcome will hopefully be reached.
Aside from the material route of implementing one's will,
there is the route which most associate with the term "Magick." It
deals with the manipulation of forces which are not documented by
science to achieve the result one is looking for. Before one can
actually use these forces, you have to get in touch with them and
practice working with them daily. Eventually one builds up a
familiarity with them and is able to put them to work in the
direction of ones will.
A very common and practical way of getting in touch with these
forces is through a basic ritual called "The Lesser Banishing
Ritual of the Pentagram." It is a ritual of the Old Aeon, in a
sense, but it still serves its purpose and can be quite effective.
It is commonly replaced nowadays by "The Star Ruby," but that is
another matter entirely which will be dealt with at a later time.
I will detail the framework of the LBRP and add some explanations,
but keep in mind that they are simply my interpretations of the
ritual and I could be wrong on some points. But there are a few
concepts which should be mentioned before detailing the procedure
for the LBRP.
Throughout the ritual, there are certain words or divine names
which are said to be "vibrated." The way this is done is really
open to alot of individual interpretation. I've seen many different
people vibrate the same word in completely different ways, so you
should use whatever way works best with you. The basic idea is to
inhale slowly and deeply, and as you are inhaling to bring in the
essence of the name deep within one's self. When you've inhaled
completely, you exhale and vibrate the name feeling the energy rush
out from within you and stretch to the ends of the universe. The
syllables should be drawn out and pronounced clearly, and as you
vibrate you should feel the whole of your body (or that particular
part of the body which is associated with that name) resonating
with it. Some people vibrate with a very deep voice originating
from the stomach, others stretch it out so that its of a higher
tone. To sum it up succinctly, if it works, use it!
Now for the actual explanation of the LBRP. Obviously, one
should find a secure and quite place where they will not be
disturbed. In essence, to do the ritual, you need nothing but
yourself. Begin by standing in the center of your circle or space
and face towards the east. Take a moment to center yourself and get
rid of any disturbing thoughts that might impede your performance.
Start some regular rhythmic breathing and try and achieve a state
of homeostasis.
The first part of the ritual is the Qabbalistic Cross. Imagine
yourself in the center of the universe. One way of getting this
idea in your head is to imagine yourself slowly growing and
expanding in size. Start out towering over your house, then your
town, your state, the continent, the globe, the solar system, and
the galaxy until you reach a point where your are at an imaginary
center of all (very figurative language here). Imagine an infinite
beam of white brilliance descending from above, and as it reaches
the top of your head, visualize a globe of pure white light opening
up. At this point, as your raise your right hand to your forehead,
vibrate ATEH (Ahh-Tehh). Bring the light down through the center of
the body and down past your feet to continue on infinitely and
touch your genital area vibrating MALKUTH (Mahl-Kooth). Visualize
a horizontal beam originating at the area of the chest and
extending infinitely to your right as you touch your right should
and vibrate VE-GEBURAH (Veh-Geh-Boo-Rah). Imagine that same beam
extending from the center and infinitely to the left as you touch
your left shoulder and vibrate VE-GEDULAH (Veh-Geh-Doo-Lah). Clasp
your hands together in the center of the chest and vibrate LE-
OLAHM, AMEN (Leh-O-Lahm, Ahh-Men). At this point the cross should
be firmly imprinted vividly and realistically into the eye of the
mind.
Roughly translated, "Ateh, Malkuth, Ve-Geburah, Ve-Gedulah,
Le-Olahm, Amen" equates to "Unto Thee, The Kingdom, and the Glory,
Forever, Amen." In a sense, the individual is aligning him or
herself with the Qabbalistic Tree of Life and the Sephiroth. "Ateh"
is attributed to Kether, at the top of the head. "Malkuth," is
naturally the sephira Malkuth, at the base of the feet. In practice
it would be quite awkward to bend all the way down to the ground,
so it is traditionally accepted to touch the genital area, which
really corresponds to the sephira Yesod (I prefer to somewhat point
towards the feet, as if directing the light in that direction and
awakening that sephira). "Ve-Geburah" corresponds with the sephira
Geburah at the right shoulder, and "Ve-Gedulah" corresponds with
the sephira Chesed at the left shoulder. These two spheres are
those of strength and mercy respectively, and form a divine triad
with Kether at the top of the Tree.
The next part of the ritual is the formulation of the
pentagrams in the four corners and the declaration of the circle.
Starting at the east, step to the edge of the circle (or just face
that way if limited with space) and trace the banishing pentagram
of earth (see diagram). Start at the lower left point, a little to
the left in front of the waist, trace the ray upwards to slightly
above and in front of the head, continue to the lower right, then
the upper left and the upper right, and back to the lower left
again making sure that the ends meet and that its traced straight
and properly (they're lines, not curves). The pentagram should be
visualized as a flaming blue. At first it might seem to be only in
the imagination, but after a while it will seem that there is an
actual pentagram traced in the astral substance as one becomes more
familiar with the forces. Now stand with arms outstretched in the
form of a cross and inhale deeply and slowly. Imagine the God name
entering with the breath and as it reaches the feet (Malkuth), it
should rush upwards and out as you expel your breath vibrating YHVH
(Yod-Heh-Vau-Heh, or Yehovah) and giving the sign of the Enterer.
This is done by stepping forwards with the left foot about a foot
and darting the hands and arms out straight before you (which were
drawn to the sides of the head as you inhaled) as you bend over
slightly to put the whole body in motion. You should imagine the
name rushing out and vibrating to the ends of the universe. As
Crowley says in Liber O, "It is a sign that the student is
performing this correctly when a single 'Vibration' entirely
exhausts his physical strength. It should cause him to grow hot all
over or to perspire violently, and it should so weaken him that he
will find it difficult to remain standing." After this vibration,
return to a normal standing position and point your right arm into
the center of the pentagram. Trace a circle at this level in white
brilliant light to the next quarter as you advance to the South.
Here, do the same, but vibrate ADNI (Ahh-Doh-Ny). Continue to the
West, but vibrate AHIH (Ehh-Heh-Yeh). Continue to the North, but
vibrate AGLA (Ahh-Geh-Lah). Then complete the circle and close it
in the east, where you started.
The next part of the ritual is the Invocation of the Angels of
the elements. Stand in the form of the Tau and say the following
words with the accompanying visualizations. "Before me, Raphael,"
and imagine in the east a brilliant angel garbed in yellow and
purple and bearing an airy aura. "Behind me, Gabriel," and imagine
an angel in the west in blue and orange, bearing a cup and with a
watery aura. "On my right hand, Michael," imagining to the South an
angel in Red and Green with a flaming sword and surrounded by an
aura of fire. "On my left hand, Auriel," imagining to the North an
angel in the colors of earth (citrine, olive, russet, black) and
bearing an earthly aura. "For about me flames the Pentagram, And in
the column stands the Six-rayed Star." The visualizations of the
angels can be elaborated on as you see fit, but make sure the
images you come up with are suitable to their natures. The names of
the angels should be vibrated, and the rest of the words should be
chanted to a certain extent.
The final part of the ritual is merely a repetition of the
Qabbalistic cross as I described above. The student should further
delve into the Qabbalistic attributions of every part of the ritual
to gain a further understanding of its meaning and importance. In
actuality its a very short ritual, even though it took up a great
deal of space to explain it. If you have any comments, questions,
or elaborations, I encourage you to write to us and let us know.
There are alot of different ways of performing the ritual, but as
is usually the case, if it works for you, use it! That's it for
now, next month I'll deal with something else, though I'm not
exactly sure what (any suggestions?).

Gas Leaks

You can't fix it until you know what's wrong
Normal trouble shooting takes too long
I'm looking for gas leaks with a cigarette lighter
I'm really tired of all these breakdowns
You can't fix it until you know what's wrong
Normal trouble shooting takes too long
I want to find a way that's quick and fast
I want a solution that's going to last
I'm looking for gas leaks with a cigarette lighter
Years of repair and rust erosion
Wiped away with one big explosion

From the winter's gray despair,
From the summer's golden languor,
Death, the lover of Life,
Frees us for ever.

Inevitable, silent, unseen,
Everywhere always,
Shadow by night and as light in the day,
Signs she at last to her chosen;
And, as she waves them forth,
Sorrow and Joy
Lay by their looks and their voices,
Set down their hopes, and are made
One in the dim Forever.

Into the winter's gray delight,
Into the summer's golden fream,
Holy and high and impartial,
Death, the mother of Life.
Mingles all men for ever.

A View of Magick Using Quantum Mechanics

This is part two of my article on a view of magick using
quantum mechanics. In this article I will take a standard Wiccan
ritual and break it apart in an attempt to show its parts in a
quantum view. Lets consider the typical structure of a Wiccan
magical ritual:

(1) Settling one's mind to one's surroundings before performing a
ritual allows the mind to free itself of interfering signals. It
sort of clears the static of the mind that occurs in daily life.
This clearing of the static allows the mind to focus on the target
image without other images interfering.

(2) By clearing one's mind, it allows one to focus on the
surroundings one's working in. This is called achieving a non-
localized state of consciousness.

(3) By focusing on each of the different elements, one's mind can
resonate on non-local essences, which allows your mind to resonate
very powerfully on these elements of the Earth's energy fields.

(4) After your mind connects with this energy field, you can see a
pattern of energy which represents the non-local web of waves
(magnetic waves) which connect everything with everything in the
universe. The idea is to connect your mind to this web in order to
join in the non-local matrixes, which will join you and help you
with your magick.

(5) Next you will be focusing specifically on the goal of this
magickal work using visualization.

(6) When you achieve this visualized goal, visualize the end result
which will allow the energy a template to connect or fit upon. This
in turn will cause a resonance that will be transmitted to the non-
local energy web, to cause change in it.

(7) Energize this visualization by what ever means your mind and
body can generate energy (using music, dancing, chanting etc.).

(8) And finally when the energy is built up, send it out into the
energy web to cause the desired change. Basically energize those
energy fields that will cause this change.

(9) Lastly, close down the link and drain off any excess energy you
may still have in you. Also close down the link you have with non-
local energy fields so that the energies you send back will be
minimally disturbed by your actions of leaving.

This is just one example of magick that can be done. This
ritual is more of a type of meditation that should be done by a
single person than by a group. The best book that describes this
ritual and meditation is the Spiral Dance by Starhawk. There are
other books which are related to this field, I will list them at
the end of this article. Remember when doing any type of ritual to
keep a detailed record of the ritual in a book (such as a Book of
Shadows).
Here is some food for thought on those who may try to practice
unethical forms of magic. These thoughts relate to the quantum view
of magick. When you are transmitting your energy to the non-local
energy web, only a small part of the energy actually reaches the
web, so remember if you try to hex another person you end up hexing
yourself, because a good chuck of the energy you built up is still
in you. So basically its not a good idea to do any form of
manipulative magick, cause you end up doing it upon yourself.
Your best bet is to do any spell with a belief that it is for
the good of all involved and will not interfere with the free will
of all. The best book for describing and avoiding these unethical
dangers in magick is call Positive Magick by Marion Weinstein.
Remember when doing any form of magick it is important to
separate your mind from the reality of the world you are in now.
Create a mold for the thought so the energy can fill it and make
things happen. Many times people have trouble separating, which
causes involuntary magickal actions to spring up, or events you
briefly thought about while doing the ritual actually happening,
when you did not want them to happen. So remember when completing
any form of ritual to ground out the remaining energy and bring
your mind back into focus with this reality and pull out of the
energy net that you were working with. Here are some reference you
might find useful if you seek more information on the subject. Any
article by Larry Cornett, in the Pagan APA, in the section called
Amaranth and the book Future Science, in the section called "Hidden
Variables: Where Physics and the Paranormal Meet," by Nick Herbert
and Even Walker. If you have any questions on this article please
feel free to write. I like to compare notes on the subject, since
it's a new field. Any ideas may further our knowledge about it even
more, since we cannot possible know all there is to know about this
quantum world that we deal with every day.

The Prophecy

Stop, my friends, the time has come.
The deeds of woe and dread are done.
The sun has arisen in the sky,
Daring the spirit of man to fly.

To fly and fly, forever free,
On and on and endlessly,
Expressing Love, Light and Life,
And Liberty to rid all strife.

The seed is sown, the flame is lit,
The blow of righteousness has hit,
And he who turns his face away,
Shall be confused and led astray.

But he climbs the ladder of light,
And he who yearns to shine so bright,
Shall reach the goal that few attain,
To which some aspire, but search in vain.

For they've turned their hearts to ice cold rock,
Not knowing that laughter's the key to the lock.
