The Unachievability Of Understanding

This is easily explainable in several steps of logic and fact.

I. We are human.

II. We have boundaries to our understanding. For example, emotional involvement, misconception, interference from often blindly accepted spiritual beliefs, our ability to guess things and then believe them to be true, etc.

III. To understand our world, we must first understand ourselves and our boundaries of thought and understanding - explained briefly above - so that we may attempt to remove their hinderance on our understanding.

IV. We cannot do this, because we have boundaries to our understanding that will limit our understanding of ourselves and in turn, our own understanding.

V. A circular argument ensues.

Simply explained here, we may not understand the world, because we are unable to understand ourselves and fully how we understand.

Incidentally, the question then arises, "Why do we want to understand?"

We humans are machines. Our sole quest in life is to create more of our species and continue the existence of the species. This is why we wish for more money, more power - these are status symbols, things fellow humans find attractive. Our basic thinking process says as follows:

More status -> Must be a greater human than everyone else* -> Supposedly a better person to pass genes onto -> More attractive.

* This comes from our Tribal thinking, which we have not evolved out of.

This is why we wish for beauty in ourselves, and why cosmetics and aesthetic values of ourselves are so important to us - more in women than men, because males are influenced more, in the gene-furtherment process, by looks, than women.

This is why we want pretty much everthing.

Understanding is one of these things. If we understand the world around us, not only will we be supposedly more intelligent, and therefore a little more attractive, but we can also stay alive for longer, and hunt better for our family when we bring humans into the world.

To summarize: We are natural machines. We wish to understand because it gives us greater status in the gene-furtherment process, and we know that when we understand something, we feel good. Chemical stimulance. It's the reason for the existence of the orgasm - our species is "intelligent" enough to only want something if it makes us feel good, which is why the feeling of an orgasm is the "best feeling."

We humans exist, to exist.
