Atheism: What it is, what it isn't

by Ryguy64

First off, Atheism is not a hatred for religion, it is simply the lack of belief for it. Most religous groups recruit members through their parents. A child is born into a religous household, and many times the religion is FORCED onto that child. The child doesn't get a chance to learn for himself/herself what he/she believes, but is instead brainwashed by the same thing that brainwashed their parents. Typically atheists grow up in a house where the parental units encouraged individual expression. Children who grow up being allowed to choose what they truly believe in will choose what they truly believe in. If a person chooses religion because there is something in their stimulatory pilituation gland (otherwise known as the "soul", not to be confused with pituitary gland, they are different) that codes the allowance of personal choice for this portion of their personality. The same thing happens to an atheist, only it is much more likely that an atheist has let this coding speak for itself, instead of being brainwashed into a belief that WILL shape their entire personality, and most likely result in a very differeiented person that what they would be had they been able to let their true selves, the genetic coding that makes up the human personality, come out.

If there is any way to distinguish between truthful beliefs and brainwashed beliefs, it is in the support of the religion. If one trys to prove that their god does (or does not) exist, they don't truly believe. Belief is simply that, believing. Knowledge and belief are two very different things. Knowledge is factual information, belief is a personal thought. If one truly believes in God, then it is their personal conviction, and have no right or reason to prove the existence. The same goes for an atheist, if one tries to prove that there is no supernatural power, they are doing it for the wrong reason. It's a take it or leave it situation, agnostisism is a scapegoat for not being true to yourself. Obviously one cannot know whether God is real or not, the idea is that one must take it upon themselves to either believe or disbelieve it. Not prove or disprove. In all actuallity, Atheism is really just your "soul" telling you what you don't think it true. At the end of life, you will either find out the truth, or you won't. You can either waste the middle believing a fairy tale, or live your life believing that the end will be the end, but knowing that in the mean time you WILL live your life.
