World Media Protest Day

by RecDude

13-APRIL-2003

We are resolved to bring forth a new system. We wish to eliminate the old and bring forth a new one.

Our goal is to tear down the existing media empires through our own economic sanctions.

13-APRIL-2003

  1. We refuse to pay the high prices that are charged for media. (Concerts tickets, C.D.s, Movies, Games, DVDs, Sporting events and any and all other forms of over priced "entertainment").
  2. We demand quality. We will no longer accept substandard material.
  3. We demand diversity. We will not listen to and/or watch anything that is repetitive, and/or exclusive to limited artists. Give us alternative new artists.
  4. We demand access for the new artists to showcase their talent.
  5. We demand respect. Do not insult us with constant barrages of advertisements then expect us to pay for them.
  6. We implore that our governments help us not hinder us.
  7. We ask that any filesharing prosecutions or other current similar prosecutions be stopped, and a general amnesty be declared effective 4-13-03.
  8. We demand rational productive dialog concerning the future of media.
  9. We demand greater access for the public to private radio and television stations, so that smaller businesses may created.
  10. We demand that previews, credits and any other form of spam type activity be eliminated from our purchases. (Such things may be made available upon request). We wish to purchase only the art.

13-APRIL-2003

These are our demands for the future of media. If they are not met we will no longer purchase media or any of the above mentioned items in any form.

We WILL entertain ourselves, give up our art, and refuse to participate in copyrights, charting, or award based systems.

The media empires cannot survive without us the consumer. To the media owners and representatives. WE WILL DO IT.

This appeal is neither static nor all inclusive. We reserve the right to modify it and/or add to it as we the public deem appropriate. It is not intended to incite violence, civil disobedience, property damage, or in any way condone illegal activity. This is intended to be of a passive nature.

Our goal is to force change by withdrawing our financial support starting.
