Synonyms: Stealth Virus
Date of Origin: January, 1990.
Place of Origin: Bulgaria.
Host Machine: PC compatibles.
Host Files: Remains resident. Infects COM files,
including COMMAND.COM
Increase in Size of Infected Files: 512 bytes.
Nature of Damage: Affects system run-time
operation. Corrupts program files. Corrupts file linkage.
Detected by: ScanV58+.
Removed by: Scan/D, CleanUp v58+.
The 512 is a sophisticated virus from Bulgaria, discovered by virus
fighter Vesselin Bontchev. The virus infects COM files, including
COMMAND.COM, and can cause run time problems including program crashes
and hung systems. It may cause some damage to FATs.
