This is only for those in the area that is supplied
by Chicago Cable Co. .............................
First a list of channels that are scrambled........
16-is just a scrambled HBO Bleedover till they figure
some other purpose there.
17-is the HBO channel.
18-is Show-Time.
22-is Disney.
24-is Cinemax.
46-is TMC. (As of 06-01-88 TMC will be channel 15)
This is optional for those who wish to have the Audio in stereo.
HBO 88.9FM
SHOW 89.5FM
MTV 90.1FM(not scrambled)
VH-1 90.9FM(not scrambled)
USA 92.1FM(not scrambled)
TNN 93.5FM(not scrambled)
DIS 94.9FM
TMC 95.9FM
*Note for the above to be used you must obtain a FM stereo outlet
via cable.*
OK now if you do not have either HBO or SHOW then you are not get-
ting the signal to begin with it isn't scrambled just blocked. Thus
you must find where the installer's box is (usually Big and Green
with over 25 cable's running into it.) trace the cable from your
box (this is sometimes not neccecary because the end cable's are
marked with your apt or house) unscrew the cable and remove the
cyclinder, this is long and silver. and reconnect the cable.
I would advise one rather than just removeing the cyc. you replace
it with a dummy cyc. You can make on of these simply by getting one
from a far neigbors box and gutting it, but make sure you have a
strong signal connect running threw. Thus no one is the wiser. This
will obtain you both HBO and SHOW.
To get Disney you can take(if there is one) a very small cyc. from
any box anywhere that says PMO by PICO Co. this is a filter for the
Dis. Chn. also you may just use a Channel 3 filter they both work.
As for TMC and MAX these are def. scrambled and have to be sent other
wise from the Cable Co. station nearest you. But (aha) these are
scrambled by flipping the picture then inverting it. And a simple
de-scrambler can be built.(Not in this g-file but soon to come)
from our friend Mr. Radio Shack. The Audio is left untouched.
OK now for those of you a little more Adv. and have your own idea's
here is some important info. you will need.
