The Red Shirt's Requiem
The Red Shirt's Requiem
To the tune of RED RIVER VALLEY
by Larry D. Kirby, III
From the transporter room we are going
To beam down to the planet below
As Security on Jim Kirk's starship
We know we will not live through the show
Whenever they need cannon fodder
They call on the ones dresses in red
You can bet before the next commercial
One of us will most likely be dead
We've been shot, stabbed, and blown into atoms
We get killed off in horrible ways
Every time one of us dons a red shirt
Captain Kirk kills us off within days
Let me stand by your side won't you Captain
For you go through your life with a charm
And as long as we're standing by you
We know we'll surely be safe from harm
Oh I know some day soon I'll be lying
On some planet, my life growing dim
And the last words that I will hear spoken
From a soft country voice: "He's dead, Jim.
