TT> I'm new to the area, whats the ANAC # for the bay area 510?

The ANAC number is not different in every area code... it's different on every
switch (the ANAC number is different in every area).

For the 510-935 area:

Walnut Creek
WNCKCA11CG0 (which is a 1Aess)and
WNCKCA11DH0 (which is a DMS-100)

The ANAC number is 760-1111, which is probably the most common ANAC number
around.

BTW: Those switches service 256,313,316,746,930,934,935,943,945,946,947,950,
977, and 055 (055? Don't ask me, I'm just quoting the shit as I see it). <I
believe those prefixes are serviced by the 1A>

and 933,937,938,939,942, and 048 are serviced by the DMS-100.

Walnut Creek frames is in the 943 prefix... switching numbers are in the 256
and 933 prefix... DAMT access codes are standard (not default 1111, but
standard for 510).

One last note, I'm not familiar with what "DHO" in a CLLI code denotes. DSO
is "digital switching office"...

Okay, lets see. 510-685:

Concord CA
service area: Diablo - North
CNCRCA01CGO 1Aess
760-1111 <is what I have for the ANAC code>
510-682-0405 <DAMT>
510-682-0008 <for more information :) this is just a guess, but 682 might be
a good place to scan>

935 uses the same ANAC.

Common ANACs:
760 <not that common>
760-0112
760-1111
760-2111
760-2222
760-5555
<for some reason, the vast majority of 510 ANACs start with 760>
760-2578 <actually, this isn't common>

211 <not that common>
211-0022 <very common>
211-1111
211-1212
211-2222
211-2244 <very common, especially in 408 and 916>
211-5555

Those will cover about 90% of pacific bell. Chances are your ANAC is one of
those.

I have seen ANAC in a few areas that are like 20 digits instead of 7. How do
you get these?

-> ask a linesman
-> call the frames number
-> steal the I&M phone directory for your area
-> steal a couple linesmens handsets and check the recall. If it's some long
string of digits, chances are the linesmen will program it into their
handsets to save time
-> report line noise on your line, and when the linesmen comes to the SNI,
tell him you don't know which line it is (just give him the number and
let him find the line). This works if you have more than one line and
a pen register setup. <by the way, think really really hard about
expanding this, if you know what I mean, taking this same trick to new
levels>

IA> Thanks for the ANAC's... I was wondering if you could explain the purpose of
IA> of the two numbers above (510-682-0405 and 510-682-0008). Thanks again for
IA> your help.

Okay... 0008 is the standard last four digits of the number of the "desk",
which is the number to the CO. It's usually the administrative part of the
CO, but often you'll reach the same people you'd get if you'd dialled the
frames. <Unless it's a fairly large CO, I have no idea how large the concord
CO is, they all look the same on paper :)>.

I gave out the "desk" number instead of the frames number because it's easy
to bullshit the other numbers (eg the number to the switch room) from the
desk.

Basically, this is the CO's phone number. It's not too hard to find, since
most desk numbers are xxx-0008 or xxx-0010. The frame number is usually some
off the wall bullshit like 7145 or 3482.

The other number I gave you, 0405, was a DAMT. It's a Direct Access
Mechanized Testing number. I've decided I'm going to write a short file on
DAMT (sometimes refered to as "damnit" by linesmen) which is basically a
testing feature used by linesmen. It's pretty cool, IMO anyways.

DAMT is also seen in tech manuals as DATU-LC. I don't remember what DATU
stands for, I'd have to check my tech manuals, but it's probably something
really simple like "direct access testing unit", and LC is either Line Card
or Loop Carrier (such as an SLC-96), but in this case it's a Line Card.

I've got alot of time on my hands until this next weeked, so expect to see my
file on DAMT soon.

The format for some of the listings of internal Bell numbers I have is:

MLT #
[COs NAME] RSB xxx [such as 173]
[partial CLLI] [Wire Center] [COSMOS code]

ESS - [the prefixes controlled by the ESS]

X-BAR - [The prefixes controlled by the X-bar, which occasionally runs under
the supervision of the ESS switch. Most often this is (NONE)]

FRAME #
DESK #
COVERAGE: [times people are suppose to be there]

REFER IN:
[the different numbers to call at different times for different resons]

RCMAC # [the # to the RCMAC that services this CO ***]
ESS SCC # [the # to the SCC that services this CO ***]
ADJUNCT # [I'm not sure what this is ***]
NTEC # [likewise, I know what it stands and I've been told it's a part
of the phone company that handles special circuits in the CO,
but I'm not sure. It stands for Network Terminal Equipment
Center. HOWEVER the #s I have in these listings are INSIDE the
COs. So I dunno. More on this after I figure out what it does]
ANAC #

*** = These numbers are to parts of the phone company OUTSIDE the CO

The above listing is for uhm parts of the phone company that service
different COs... The below listing is for I&M people and is similiar to those
little I&M phone directories the linesmen carry:

Central office: Prefix[es]: DAMT Tel#/Access Code: ANI Code:

[CO name & [prefixes] [the DAMT # and 4 digit [ANI]
CLLI code & access code]
switch type]

These will have listings of many, many COs, and under each page or so ill
have listings of FRAME TELEPHONE #s.

If you want the ANAC or any other Pac Bell number for any area, email me on
&TOTSE, 510-935/5845.
