Possible cure for Epstein- Barr virus?

Dear Linda,

As, I'm sure, you already know, Epstein-Barr is a virus and
unfortunately no "known" way, through drugs or other therapies, presents
itself to combat viruses directly. However, the body's own defense
network, the immune system, is designed to do this for us and it is the aim
of therapeutic treatment to assist the body in its fight against invaders
like EBV. With that in mind, I'm offering the following programme to 1)
increase the body's resistance to viral attack, 2) increase the body's
ability to counterattack and (hopefully) destroy the virus, 3) facilitate
the body's ability to repair itself of damage already done, and 4) because
EBV is characteristic of causing fatigue, to increase and maintain the
body's energy level.

OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER (the law says I must make this): The following
programme is not intended to provide medical advise, but to suggest
possibilities. No medical claims can be made about it nor inferred from
it, though nothing is presented that is not backed by sound scientific
research. Finally, do not embark upon a programme of nutritional
supplementation, nor any part of one, for medical purposes without first
consulting with a knowledgable practicing physician.

It can not be emphasized enough... balanced diet and proper exercise must
be the foundation of any health programme. Without fitness, all the body's
systems are left susceptible to stress and unable to adequately cope with
societal health risks. Without proper exercise, fitness suffers loss.
Therefore, a regimen of aerobic and strengthening exercise should be
adhered to (a minimum of) three times a week for 30 minutes each, to
achieve and maintain fitness. A balanced diet is needed to provide the
body with the macronutrients necessary for good health, a long and
enjoyable life, and to make possible the benefits of exercise. These are
protein, carbohydrate, and fat and are all necessary to sustain life. A
diet of low [saturated] fat, high carbohydrate, and moderate protein intake
is recommended for an active, energetic and healthy life.

While the macronutrients are necessary to sustain life, they can do nothing
without equal micronutrition (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc.).
Therefore, to complete our health "foundation" the following should be
taken twice daily (once with morning meal, again with evening meal):

A (complete) multi-vitamin with chelated minerals (my personal
recommendation is for &Source of Life' from Nature's Plus)

A vitamin C complex, 1000mg (a C "complex" contains bioflavonoids,
rutin, hesperidin, and rose hips)

That completes my recommendation for a "good health foundation" which I
believe everyone, healthy or otherwise, should include in their daily
lives. I will now address my recommended anti-viral supplementation
programme, designed for the purposes stated above. I've stated the primary
reason(s) for recommending these substances with each in turn:

A B-50 Stress Complex, 3 times a day: the body's primary stress
fighters are B=6>, Folic Acid (vitamin M, a B-complex member),
and Pantothenic Acid (B=5>). However, B vitamins need to be
taken together and in the correct balance to be effective. Also,
a good anti-stress formula will include C (another stress fighter,
gets depleted by stress), Magnesium (the "anti-stress" mineral),
and Potassium (gets depleted by stress). An anti-stress formula
should be taken to help protect the body from the immune lowering
effects of stress and anxiety.

An additional C complex, afternoon meal: aids the body in warding
off illness, protects from free-radical damage

RNA-DNA complex, 300mg a day in 3 divided doses: because a virus
spreads by attacking cellular nucleic-acids, using them to
duplicate itself and spread to surrounding cells; destroys
remaining cellular RNA-DNA in the process

Astragalus root, 1000mg a day in (2 or 3) divided doses: boosts
virtually every phase of immune system activity and increases the
number of "stem cells" (the body's surplus of "embryonic" like
cell matter from which all cells are derived), in the body and
promotes their development into active immune cells

Chlorella (broken-cell), 1-2 grams a day in (3 or 4) divided
doses: most nutritionally complete food source &currently'
known to man; facilitates proper functioning of virtually all
biological systems; aids cellular division and regeneration;
promotes the repair of damaged tissue(s)

Echinacea, 1 capsule 3 times a day: stimulates white-cell
activity; protects cells' natural defense chemical from enzymes
produced by invaders

Ginseng (Siberian), 1 capsule 2 or 3 times a day: promotes
resistance to disease; stimulates macrophage (a white-cell)
activity; stimulates production of interferon, a virus-fighting
defense chemical; counteracts fatigue

That completes my recommended programme for fighting (to WIN against, not
relieve from) EBV or, for that matter, *any+ viral illness. However,
this is a very basic programme and no two people are likely to respond
exactly the same. Therefore, I can not overemphasize the importance of
consulting with your physician about any part of this programme. Give a
copy of this letter to him/her to facilitate consultation. If either you
or your physician have any questions or concerns about this programme, they
