Igneus Mors

by PrismaticThought

The pills fell from my hand as sharp pain wracked my skull, it wasn't physical pain though. Mental anguish produced by segregation from a family who couldn't love a disappointment. Rage filled me as I realised how far they had pushed me, how they had nearly won. With this revelation in mind I knew the tables had turned for it would be I who would now do the pushing.

I waited until eleven thirty that night quickly moving to their bedroom for I knew the window of opportunity was growing smaller by the minute. Pillow in hand I placed it firmly over his face pinning it down with my hands firmly on each side of his head. For moments nothing and then suddenly he began to struggle but I kept the pillow firmly in place my anger strengthening me until slowly his exertion subsided and he was still. Though this was not before she woke up screaming wildly in that moment she must have realised just how far she had propelled me, right to the edge. Kicking madly and screaming I punched her in the side of the head clipping her temple, she was down and blood had begun to pool at the spot where I had hit her which I couldn't stand after all I was human.

The screaming had awoken my sister who was sleeping in the bedroom next to the one I was now standing in and she came barrelling through the door wondering what the commotion was. The sight that she was greeted with made her recoil in horror as I leapt at her picking her up by the neck and pitching her across the room where she lay quite still, assuming her neck must have been broken when her head had roughly clipped the end bedpost.

I walked out of the house crossing the yard quickly to the shed unlocking it with the key that was kept in the laundry. Inside I retrieved two cans of petrol and whatever other flammable items I could find. Back in the bedroom my sister was crying quietly in the corner, she wasn't dead after all. I ignored this fact as I proceeded to douse the entire room with petrol paying particular attention to the two bodies and the pathetic whimpering thing in the corner. After I walked into the bathroom, showered thinking in my deranged mind that I was symbolically washing away the guilt of what I had done. Walking into my bedroom and opening my cupboard I put on a nice white shirt I'd bought recently and a pair of white pants also purchased in recent times.

Absent-mindedly I shoved the pills into my pocket, grabbed the Zippo lighter I had and walked back into their bedroom. Flames erupted from the bedroom windows shattering them as I had thrown the burning lighter into the middle of the room, the place was an inferno. Walking quickly through the house to the kitchen I grabbed his car keys thinking how he wouldn't need them now. Walking outside an immense heat emanated from their bedroom, however I ignored this as I made my way out onto the footpath where the car was parked. Getting in I sat for a moment reflecting on what I had done drew a blank, I think they called this shock.

Speeding down the highway not really knowing where I was going didn't concern me, I just kept driving. Noticing that fuel was getting low and acknowledging the fact I had no money I decided to stop at the next town.

The small town's fresh sea air was liberating as I walked along a beach I had happened upon. Tracing patterns in the sand and walking through the shallow water I took no note of time or anything else, suddenly turning to the horizon to watch the beautiful sun rise before me. Breathtaking I thought as I continued down the beach occasionally picking up shells and pieces of driftwood to examine. 'Hey' a voice rang out suddenly, startled I turned towards it's source to see a beautiful young woman walking towards me. 'You look like shit' the woman exclaimed looking me up and down. Ignoring her I continued walking, noticing she was following me a whirled around to face her and said 'Can I help you?' She looked at me surprised by my tone which was less then friendly. 'Do you believe at love at first?' The woman asked me her beautiful hazel eyes piercing me with their warmth. 'No I don't' I stated bitterly taking the pills out of my pocket I gave the woman a mock smile as I downed all of them at once without water.

'What were they?' She asked puzzled walking towards me looking concerned. 'It's just my medication' I said as I lay down on the wet sand and closed my eyes.
