Actor or Cartoon Character: Who's More Real?

About three nights ago, I was tripping out on an acid high, and you know when that happens, you start thinking about things you normally wouldn't.
Well I was thinking, do you believe a cartoon character is more real to you than an actor, because all an actor does is play the part, while the cartoon character is the part. The cartoon character personifies perfectly what the artist and writer are trying to get through to you.
While an actor is trying to in his way interpret a character.
When a character in a cartoon dies, that's it, they're gone forever, but when an actor dies, they can come back and do another movie, therefore defeating the purpose in a way of the death in the previous movie.
I think it's very possible to become in a much more attached to a cartoon chartacter than an actor.
The only downside would be, can the artist correctly convey to expression to the audience? Can he get it through better than the actor? If so, he has accomplished his role in making the character as alive and real as a person.
I personally think once virtual animation reaches a point where the characters in the film are as real as the actors, you will feel that that character is unequivocally more real than an actor.
