The Boy who Couldn't Sleep
by Liam Sullivan
Another joint, another blow
As his band would play
A stable loft above coco:
The undoing of a boy.
Not old in years
Living through the cancerous cud
Filled with the filth of a thousand lies
Day by day rotting, till' his demise.
Drugs which open all these doors
Keys of gates, down paths to wander
His feet took one; his mind another
Look at your empty, distant brother
Now he's lost in his own mind
Will look and look but will not find
The boy who once but did reside
Under those eyes
Try and try but sleep no more
Who is that knocking on the door?
Those voices not from down the hall?
A seaside slice of hell, stay here for evermore.
Don't wake don't break, don't slide don't shake
This ever lasting belly ache
Years and years of keys and gates
The boy who couldn't sleep.
