The Doors discography

THE DOORS: Discography

"You see, when the Siberian shaman gets ready to go into his trance,
all the villagers get together and shake rattles and blow whistles
and play whatever instruments they have to send him off. There is a
constant pounding, pounding, pounding. It was the same way with the
Doors when we played in concert. It was like Jim was an electric shaman
and we were the electric shaman's band, pounding away behind him.
Sometimes he wouldn't feel like getting into the state, but the band kept
pounding and pounding and little by little it took him over. I could
send an electric shock through him with the organ. John could do it with
his drumbeats. You could see every once in a while - twitch! - I could
hit a chord and make him twitch. And he'd be off again."

For any new listener of the Doors, _The Doors Greatest Hits_ and the
superb, digitally remastered _Classics_ LP are a fantastic introduction.
Both are easily available; other Doors vinyl, however, might be found only
in used record shops, new on foreign or audiophile pressings.

The above listing does not take into account the two LP's produced by the
three surviving Doors: _Other Voices_<1972> and _Full Circle_<1973>.

Suggested reading: _No One Here Gets Out Alive_ [1980, Warner Books],
by Jerry Hopkins/Daniel Sugerman. The absolute definitive biography of Jim
Morrison: Comprehensive look at the Doors in operation, and excellent
reading as well.
