Adolescence

by Tripp

Cinnamon to cover my sin
Scent in my nose, scent on my skin
Chemicals to cover the drug
Such a suffocating hug
Empty out my bank account
Intensify all my doubt
Youthful lusts up in smoke
You can smell it in all my clothes
One cannot act this way
For all their life and all their days
Must learn to keep my wants at bay
I know in the end I'll have to pay
Klonopin and Vicodin
Fighting a war I don't want to win
Zolpidem, Xanax, and pot
I'd rather just let my brain rot
Amphetamine nightmares and acid dreams
Depakote muffling all my screams
"Put her on Paxil, put her speed!
We try so hard to excuse the need
To kill the feel, to make them numb
We laugh because they are so dumb
Give them shit that is no good
Fuck them up beneath the hood
Give them counsel that is wrong
Sing our millionaire sweet song
Two thousand dollars for an hour
We do it `cause we have the power
Don't give a shit `bout how they feel
Ignore all of their appeal
Convince them that we're right as rain
Hopefully they'll go insane
We may cash in on their bad luck
But does it look like we give a fuck?"
