Blue Lotus: a very pleasant legal high

I heard good things about Blue Lotus and decided it was something I wanted to try. I ordered a gram of 25:1 extract from IAmShaman.com but wasn't sure what form it would be in and as such not sure how best to ingest it.

It arrived as a white powder, so I decided to dissolve it in a cup of ginseng tea. This later turned out to be a bad idea - the tea was VERY bitter and I wouldn't recommend ingesting extracts orally. I added a bit of honey to improve the taste but it didn't help.

I downed the nasty concoction at 9 PM, played some Phish, and relaxed.

Shortly after I had come down I felt as though the effects had come on instantly, although I realize now this was simply because it altered my perception of time. The first thing I felt was a light, floaty sensation throughout my entire body around 9:20 (this, obviously, was how I realized it had changed my perception of time). By 9:30 I was feeling a "buzzing" sensation all over, which occasionally turned into a very annoying itch. This was the only unpleasant side effect of the substance.

The mental effects by now were not extreme. I didn't feel extremely euphoric or anything along those lines. I felt relaxed; very laid back - I was able to cut loose from everything around me and take everything lightly. I felt a general sense of well-being and goodwill towards everything on earth.

At around 10:00 I went upstairs, which was the first time I had really tried to walk during the trip. With the floating sensation in my body it felt quite pleasant, although I was much more content to sit and let my mind wander. I called my girlfriend and talked to her for a while, lying on my bed and letting the effects of the drug wash over me. I felt a warm sensation around my lips, and everything seemed cold to the touch on my forearms and the back of my hands. I was still feeling the buzzing sensation, only I had been expecting it to intensify, but it didn't.

I didn't experience a number of things I had been expecting - namely, increased sensitivity to music and closed- or open-eye visual. It was definitely not a psychedelic experience, but I wouldn't classify it as a sedative either. At my dose I felt a deep sense of goodwill towards everything, much like what some people experience with ecstasy, and the body high I experienced was much like a slight cannabis high. There were no intense effects from the drug. It was a very mild, pleasant high, easily something I would do again. The only negatives were the itching and, of course, the taste. Ick.

I went to bed around 11. I didn't experience any difficulty falling asleep (I usually do when I'm on something) and felt no after-effects the next day. All in all, Blue Lotus was a very pleasant, laid-back high and an experience I would like to have again.
