BLUNT n. A cheap, store bought cigar (brandnames that can be found in local convenience stores, such as: Phillie Blunts, White Owls, Swisher Sweets, Optimo Blunts, Garcia y Vega or El Producto) that has been hollowed out and filled with marijuana (the marijuana used in blunts is sometimes mixed with tobacco or rarely mixed cocaine, crack-cocaine, PCP, or other street drugs). Supposedly, blunts were invented by the Jamaicans in New York City, NY.

Materials needed to roll a blunt

  • 1 Lighter with a LARGE flame
  • A cheap cigar(s)
  • 1 to 2 grams of weed per-blunt you plan to roll
  • A SHARP blade (razor blade, Swiss Army knife, kitchen knife, penknife, etc)
  • Something to put the blunt waste in
  • A calm, well lit, and flat area to work in (basically a desk and table)

Optional/Suggested Materials:

  • Cigarette tobacco
  • Aluminium foil
  • Rolling papers
  • Plastic Baggies

HOW TO ROLL A BLUNT

1. If the cigar is covered in a thin outer skin, one must carefully peel this layer off.

2. Search for the seam in the cigar paper, find this seam, lick the seam up and down (length wise) once, then lick the rest of the cigar to moisten the paper.

3. Use a blade to cut the cigar length wise on its seam.

4. Push all of the tobacco into a cup, piece of paper, or toilet bowl. Carefully flatten the cigar paper (blunt wrap) out. Lick the end that was rounded and carefully unfold the end. The blunt wrap should now be a brown, rectangular piece of paper.

5. Take the amount of marijuana you wish to use in the blunt, de-seed it, remove all stems (although some people just grind up moist stems and add them to the marijuana) and grind/tear the marijuana into little bits. Cheap marijuana is suggested, as high quality and expensive marijuana should be saved to smoke out of a bong or pipe.

***OPTIONAL***

Mix in cigarette tobacco (or any other drugs you want to add in) at this stage. Useful if you enjoy tobacco or if you want to increase yields for blunts you plan on selling.

6. Place the marijuana in the blunt wrap and even it out so no one area is thicker than another.

7. **HARDEST STEP** As best you can, roll one side of the blunt wrap over the weed, tucking the wrap under itself.

8. Roll up the blunt, lick the final 1/2 cm of the wrap (both outside and inside) and fold it over onto the wrap. Lick the semi-completed blunt up and down. Then take the lighter, crank up the flame so that it is about an inch tall, and run the flame up and down the length of the blunt, thus drying the blunt and making the moist paper stick to itself (commonly called ROASTING THE BLUNT).

***OPTIONAL***

Take one rolling paper and fold it into a strip, about 1 cm thick with the glue edge showing. Lick the glue strip. Roll the paper into a cylindrical shape with the glue on the outside. Slide this "roach" into one end of the blunt that that no marijuana will be wasted; twist the other end of the blunt as it will be the end that is lit. This is quite popular in Europe but rarely practiced in the US.

9. Twist one end closed (for sparking/lighting) and fold the other end in a V-shape (length wise, so the blunt looks like a canoe). Lick the inside of the V and press it together (creates a mouthpiece).

YOU HAVE YOURSELF A BLUNT

For storage it is suggested that one place the blunt a Ziploc bag (to maintain freshness one can even use old pothead tricks, like putting orange peels and chucks of bread in the bag with the marijuana or blunt). For selling, wrap the blunt up in aluminium foil.

In conclusion, blunts are a fine way to smoke marijuana. They are very graceful and can even be smoked in public. They are perfect for a Friday night "rolling hotbox" or a long trip. Blunts are larger and tastier (if using flavored cigars) than a joint, but easier and more disposable than a pipe or bong. A fat blunt can last for 20 minutes. A good way to smoke a blunt is smoking it in halves or thirds. Smoke it until you are fairly high, then put it out, come back to it a few hours later, smoke more, and finish it or save it for yet another smoking. A light layer of honey can be added to the inside of a blunt wrap for flavor. If one saves the roaches from 10 or so blunts, then rolls a blunt with that "scrap" marijuana, they can get a very powerful and more or less free high. One can also roll a blunt before a party, then light it in style with either a Zippo lighter or matches to look more stylish than the average pothead. I hope that you have enjoyed this document and found it useful.

Long live blunts,
